Description

Light roast coffeeThis is a Happy Beans Roaster selection of Light Roast Whole Bean Coffees delivered to you periodically, as you choose, typically every two weeks or every four weeks, but at the frequency that works best for you.

After roasting, coffee beans stay fresh for 2-3 weeks. Try not to buy more than you can drink in that period. (And for best flavor, grind just before you’re ready to brew.)

Because we buy our beans directly from farms and farming cooperatives, the price will vary based on the bean and market conditions.

Light roasts generally have a more fruit-forward taste and fewer bitter notes than darker roasts. Light roasting requires more beans than dark roasting when measured by weight (the darker the roast, the more expansion/evaporation, so they get lighter).

The coffees you’ll receive light-roasted are: Rwandan Anaerobic Grade A1, Ethiopian Sidama Ardi, El Salvador and Ethiopian Super Wush Wush. Because we buy our beans directly from farms and farming cooperatives, the price will vary based on the bean and market conditions.

Rwandan Anaerobic Grade A1 is farmed in the hills of Rwanda. The anaerobic process is a type of fermentation: raw coffee fruit is put in sealed containers and during fermentation all air is forced out through a vent. The results are a rich, wine-like coffee experience. The coffee is full bodied, with low acidity, pleasant mouthfeel with mild citrus notes.

Ethiopian Sidama Ardi is grown in southern, tropical Ethiopia, a region noted for its high-quality beans. This is a delicious, crisp coffee with spice notes, mild citrus and a rich body.

El Salvador is a delightful, shade-grown, high-quality coffee grown in the nation’s volcanic-soil mountains. Shade-grown means the plants receive natural fertilization from the surrounding forest and the coffee plants have to work harder to produce fruit which results in better quality beans. Shade-grown is also better for the preservation of the rainforest. Happy Beans Roaster’s El Salvador beans yield a complex aroma with floral notes; the taste is chocolaty and well-balanced.

Ethiopian Super Wush Wush is a rare and prized variety of bean originating in the Wushwush region of southern Ethiopia. This coffee has a floral aroma and a fruit-forward taste, with notes of strawberry, dates and watermelon.
